1. Privacy at a Glance

"Munch: Simple Food Diary" is built with a Privacy-First philosophy.

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We strictly limit access to your data.
  • We do not access or view your user content (photos/notes) unless required for technical support or legal compliance.
  • We do not require your name or email.

2. Information We Collect

a. User-Created Content

This includes meal logs, notes, and photos you create.

Storage: Photos are stored locally within the App's private storage on your device to respect your privacy. They are not saved to your device's public photo gallery.

Cloud Sync: To ensure data integrity, we attempt to automatically sync this data to our secure servers (hosted by Supabase) when you have an internet connection.

Note: Currently, this data is linked to an anonymous device identifier. It cannot be restored on a new device unless you restore a full device backup.

b. Anonymous Identifiers

We use anonymous device identifiers to manage your Cloud Sync session. These identifiers are not linked to your real identity (name, email, phone number) and are used solely to route your data to your private database row.

c. App Diagnostics

We collect anonymous crash reports and performance logs (via Expo/Sentry) to help us fix bugs.

3. How We Use Data

We use your data solely to:

  • Provide the core journaling functionality.
  • Sync your content securely between your device and the cloud.
  • Validate your "Pro" subscription status.

We do NOT use your meal content for advertising or marketing.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on trusted infrastructure providers who are compliant with strict privacy standards:

  • Supabase: Secure cloud database and storage.
  • Apple: Payment processing (we do not see your credit card details).
  • RevenueCat: Subscription status validation.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information (PII) from children. Since our authentication is anonymous, we do not hold data that could identify a child's real-world identity.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Local Deletion: You can delete specific meals or the entire App from your device at any time.

Cloud Deletion: If you wish to permanently wipe your anonymous cloud data, please contact support.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your region (GDPR, CCPA), you have rights to access or delete your data. Since most data is stored on your device, you already have full control. For cloud data requests, contact us below.
